Southie, or South Boston, is a tightly knit community with young professionals and families. Rich in history, this area of Boston was historically an Irish-Catholic neighborhood. After much gentrification and the redevelopment of the Seaport District, this area has changed throughout the years. Below are four reasons that you would love living in Southie. 

Seaport District

The Junction is a bar with live music, Trivia Tuesday and Boston’s sports games on numerous TVs. Other notable bars and taverns include Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant, Shenanigans Bar and Amrheins Restaurant. Capo is another popular destination with Italian dining and a Supper Club tucked below the restaurant with a speak-easy atmosphere. The Six West Restaurant & Bar Rooftop at the Cambria Hotel is also located in Southie, with a large outdoor rooftop and indoor seating. There is always something going on in the nightlife scene in Southie.

Despite a booming nightlife scene in Southie, there are also many family friendly activities in this area. Take a walk or ride your bike along Castle Island. Castle Island has playgrounds and beaches for you and your family to explore nature and escape the hustling city life. With other parks and playgrounds, Southie is great for families. Boston’s Children's Museum is also located in Southie.
